On Fri, Jun 4, a story shared by Celine Anne Giguera Hugo was reposted on the Philippine National Police (PNP) Facebook page.
According to Hugo, a police officer, whom she identified as PO2 G.P. Jalandoni, had gone out of his way to help an old woman get anti-rabies medicine at the San Lazaro Hospital.
Hugo said she first thought that the old woman was Jalandoni’s mother as they arrived together. The old woman later sat on the bench while Jalandoni lined up to buy the anti-rabies medicine, which cost PHP1,200.
Later on, Hugo overheard another person who was lining up say, “Kawawa naman ‘yung matanda, nanglilimos na nga lang nakagat pa ng aso (Poor old woman, she’s just begging for alms and she got bitten by a dog).”
Hugo eventually found out that Jalandoni was not at all related to the old woman. He had just taken pity on her and decided to pay for her anti-rabies medicine.
