Viral: Mikey Bustos sings about being a Filipino in a Meghan Trainor parody

Giant wooden eating utensils on display? Taking a bath using a tabo? A Spanish-sounding surname? Using po and opo? If these things sound familiar, then chances are you are Filipino or you have a bunch of Filipino friends.

In his latest video, YouTube star Mikey Bustos sang about the quirks of Pinoys to the tune of Mehgan Trainor’s “No!”

The video started with actress, DJ and singer Natalia Moon asking Bustos his nationality.

“Chinese? Japanese? Mexican? Indonesian? Egyptian? I know…you’re Indian?” she asked.

Mikey responded with a song-and-dance number to explain the distinct qualities of Pinoys.

For example, he said that Pinoys are known for eating so much rice and pointing with their lips.

“If you can’t tell the difference, just get all your Asian friends take them to karaoke and the ones that don’t stop singing are Filipino,” he explained.

Other characteristics of Filipinos according to Mikey? We eat with our hands. We say “no” to the last piece. We respond to “pssst” and we remove shoes when entering other people’s homes.

The funniest part? Mikey shared how Filipinos play with babies. There’s the kuyakoy, the close-open, and the beautiful eyes.

As of writing, the video has earned more than 185,000 likes and 213,000 shares.

It’s a fun piece that focuses on the little details of being Pinoy. It’s a pretty good way to waste away four minutes of your day.

It may be recalled that Mikey once made a video about what non-Filipinos thing about our presidentiables.
