Things recently got heated in an LBC branch in Baguio City, Philippines.
A video posted on Tuesday shows a senior citizen trying to assert his right to be served first in the courier and money remittance company, only to get into an argument with another customer.
“You should have said you were a senior citizen,” an employee tells the unidentified senior citizen. The man, visibly annoyed, replies: “Is this really how you serve customers? Everything has to be pointed out to you?”
He continues to make his case, angering a younger customer in line.
The other customer, seen having a conversation over the phone, decides to butt in the older man’s conversation with the employee and says: “I’m on a phone call and you’re shouting.” He also tells the senior citizen that he’s causing inconvenience and made him sit down.
The man continues to shout at the senior citizen until the older male decides he wasn’t going to put up with the customers in line and leaves.
The Facebook video posted by user Deborah Guzman already had over 8 million views as of posting time.
Under the Senior Citizens Act of 2003, Filipinos over the age of 60 are supposed to be entitled to benefits not only from the government but also from commercial establishments.
This includes, in addition to senior discounts, express lanes or priority for senior citizens.
LBC apologized for the incident in a statement and said they would investigate.
