No wonder parents are so worried about keeping their kids safe nowadays.
A woman who last year went viral for alleged kidnapping was arrested in Manila on Saturday after again trying to abduct a child.
The suspect was identified as Charito Fernandez, 45 years old, who allegedly tried to kidnap a 3-year-old boy from his home in the district of Sta. Ana at around 8 pm., ABS-CBN News reported.
The boy’s father told GMA News’ Balitanghali that the suspect allegedly bought something from their store but did not pay then proceeded to open the door and tried pulling the child out.
That’s when the father, who was on the second floor, heard his child cry. He allegedly saw the woman holding his child’s hand and pulling him towards Dagonoy St., the same GMA News report added.
The father ran out of their house and got the boy back.
Fernandez managed to run away and enter another house where she changed clothes, ABS-CBN News reported, but she was eventually arrested by authorities after Barangay (Village) Councilor Asgar Datumanong called police assigned to the area, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
According to ABS-CBN News, Fernandez allegedly admitted to being paid PHP20,000 (US$382.02) to abduct children. This led authorities to theorize that the suspect is part of a syndicate.
However, GMA News reported that Fernandez still claims she has not kidnapped anyone.
She now faces charges of attempted kidnapping.
