Nothing says “I love you” better than this.
Facebook user Nick Laurence Agabe shared a now-viral photo on Friday of a Dunkin Donuts paper bag filled with treats meant for his girlfriend. Inside are several round, orange-colored objects, which somehow look like Dunkin’s choco butternut munchkins.
Upon closer inspection, however, they are not the orange-coated chocolate bonbons that everyone is familiar with. They’re actually a mix of tokneneng and kwek kwek, deep-fried hard-boiled chicken and quail eggs covered in orange batter, a street food common in the country.
Great. Boyfriend. Alert.
In a Facebook message sent to Coconuts Manila, Agabe said that he did the prank on his girlfriend on Thursday, in front of her home in Sta. Rosa, Laguna City.
“Her favorite from Dunkin Donuts is choco butternut, but I asked for a separate paper bag so I can buy her tokneneng.”
Agabe said he first gave her the one filled with tokneneng and kwek kwek to shock her.
And his plan did succeed. “When she opened it, she was surprised because it was tokneneng,” Agabe said. In return, his girlfriend called him “paasa” or someone who gives you false hope.
True enough, she looked utterly vexed by him.

After she ate several pieces of tokneneng and kwek kwek, he finally gave her the paper bag with the choco butternut munchkins.
The post has over 13,000 likes and 18,000 shares. Netizens found the whole prank hilarious, and some even plotted their own schemes.
Facebook user Joy Cabag Ignacio tagged a friend and wrote in Filipino: “I’ll try this on you.”
Aaron Baloloy Carmona also tagged a friend and asked in Filipino, “Do you want choco butternut [munchkins]? hahaha”
Justine Gagan said it took him a double check before he got the joke: “[D]eym it took me a second look”
“When you’re craving [munchkins] and that’s what you get,” wrote ゼリー.
Xancho Iñigo defended the tokneneng‘s honor by saying that it’s “still yummy.”
Said Agabe: “No matter what merienda (snack), it’s the thought that counts.”
He adds: “As long as we eat merienda together, she’s happy, whether it’s kwek kwek or [a] munchkin.”
