The joys of travelling? Priceless. The cost of posting photos to social media in real time? PHP3 million.
Elmer de Guzman from Bulacan, owner of Planet Holidays Travel & Tours, got the surprise of his life when, following a trip to Dubai and a “long trip abroad” which also brought him to Korea, Japan, and Israel, he was greeted with a PHP3,272,632.38 (USD74,000) bill from Globe Telecoms. His previous balance was PHP3,658.72.
Yikes!
“A huge chunk of the charges was due to data roaming charges. He was also charged with more than PHP400,000 for roaming calls,” reports Philnews.ph.
Shocked, de Guzman posted a photo of his bill on Facebook, and either people found it funny, horrendous, or they just love the Telecom so much, that it quickly became viral. It has garnered over 2.4K shares and more than a thousand likes.
An iPhone 5S from Globe can go as low as PHP1,799, while a Philippine Airlines roundtrip ticket to Dubai costs PHP26,315. Now, put them together and what do you get? Uh huh. Priceless your face.
