You gotta hand it to Carlos Celdran.
This guy knows how to spur people into participation, be it for a barter tour or a Facebook debate. Yesterday, the popular tour guide and cultural activist posted these polarizing status updates about Filipino leftists and their reaction to Barack Obama’s state visit.
Posted three hours from each other, both garnered an engagement that social media managers dream of and, if we can be OA for a while, will die for.
A lot agreed with Mr. Celdran, while a number also disagreed.
There were those that came out of nowhere and there were some that were kind of duh. Points about the origins of the Internet, Yolanda, and race, were raised. The Jerks was referenced, as was hip-hop artist Abra. The comments come with all points and from all angles. They were intelligent, sarcastic, funny, out-of-this-world, and off-tangent. It reminded us of how the comment sections of websites used to be: very, very entertaining.
