Most Filipinos are on the lookout for any dessert that could beat the summer heat, so naturally, many were thrilled to discover this treat sold by a Leyte-based businesswoman: beer-flavored ice cream.

Photos of the sinful desert started going viral over the weekend when its seller uploaded a photo of it on Facebook — a post that has been shared more than 33,000 times.

Made and sold from home by Ann Orecul and Lei Ladem, the dessert is called “Sim’s Red Horse Ice Cream.”

And they don’t use just any other beer.

The two make the frozen snack using Red Horse, a local high-alcohol beer with a distinctively sweet flavor — perfect for anyone looking for a quick buzz.

The ingenious entrepreneurs sell them in tubs, with the smallest one weighing 390ml priced at PHP130 (US$2.47).

If you’re having friends over, you might want to buy the largest tub, which weighs one liter and is sold at PHP250 (US$4.76).

They also sell liquor-infused popsicles for PHP30 (US$0.57). The pops use the same ingredients of the tipples that they’re named after: there’s Screwdriver, Watermelon Margarita, Tequila Sunrise, and Mojito.

The duo also sells regularly flavored ice cream for PHP15 (US$0.28), but what’s the fun in eating something as basic as that?

Netizens think the concept — specifically the Red Horse ice cream — is revolutionary.

“Need,” Facebook user Audrey Rebusi said.

While another user said she hopes it can be distributed in other parts of the country.

“I hope we have this in Bulacan,” wrote Honeylyn Avila.

Now, if only Orecul and Ladem can partner up with this Red Horse-loving ice cream vendor.
