Here’s a dose of inspiration to keep you going this week.
Facebook user Jo-Em Inguin posted a now-viral video on Thursday of a boy without arms who uses his feet to write.
He identified the 8-year-old boy as Marcielo C. Sailog who wrote down his name on a piece of paper using his right foot inside a classroom in Aklan province. At the end of the 58-second video, he finishes writing down his name (his penmanship was pretty neat too!), which was greeted with cheers and applause from the people, including Inguin.
He says in the post in Filipino: “Wow.. I hope someone can help this child. He doesn’t have any hands. He’s from Barangay (Village) Galicia Madalag, Aklan.”
In an interview with Coconuts Manila, Inguin said the boy is a grade 1 student at the Galicia Primary School.

“I actually know that kid, I’ve seen him before, but when he was still a baby,” he said in Filipino. “When I came back [to Aklan], he was already studying and I didn’t know that he could use his feet to write.”
Inguin said that he posted the video so people could help the child.
The video now has over 29,000 views and 1,100 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens have already commented expressing their desire to help Sailog:
Sheena Marie Barraca wrote: “How to help? [A]ny fb (Facebook) [account] to contact?”
A Facebook user that goes by the name Deema Deema said: “Sad, but still blessed.”
Another praised his ability to write using his foot:
“The kid is very good! God bless!” said Lilivic Salazar Dacanay.
Richel Heyres said it was a “good example to children who are too lazy to study even if they have both their hands.”
Joefrey Jhovan Juanito said that even if he wasn’t complete, he was still a fantastic person.
Do your magic, internet! Hopefully, Marcielo gets the help he deserves.
