A video of an angry mob attacking a snatcher has gone viral, and it isn’t pretty.

Facebook user Julan Brent Colina posted the incident yesterday with the caption in Filipino: “[A] snatcher was beaten up in Pedro Gil, his accomplice got away.”

In the video, a man can be seen pulling the thief out of a jeepney in Pedro Gil, Manila. He says to the snatcher in Filipino: “You son of a bitch, get down from there.”

The man proceeds to pummel the thief along with other men in the area. At one point in the video, some men hold the snatcher’s arms so others could punch him. The thief shouts at them in Filipino: “Please have mercy!”

However, it fell on deaf ears as they continued to beat him up.

The group quickly turned into a mob and at one point, more than seven men were ganging up on the snatcher until he fell to the ground with a bloody nose.

By the end of the video, a woman can be heard saying: “That’s enough. Let him go. He only took spare change from me.”

The video had over 800,000 views and 31,000 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens had mixed reactions.

“You guys should’ve just called the police, you didn’t need to beat him up,” Facebook user Nichole Tan wrote in Filipino.

Romen Aviso echoed the sentiment and said they should’ve just brought the guy to the police station.

“I think they did too much to the snatcher,” Guillermo Gevara said.

Others were not so forgiving.

“Why did you let him live,” Sean Buenaventura III asked.

Jed Gadon says snatchers shouldn’t just receive a beating — they deserve more.

Facebook user Cameron Mendez wrote in Filipino: “That’s what you get for doing something wrong.”

Mendez said that the thief got himself into that situation. “So all you people who do bad deeds, stop already or you might experience something much more brutal than that.”
