This techie sugar farmer one-upped a band of robbers who took his gadgets earlier this week.
“A man was reunited with his tablet which was taken by robbers who broke into his house in Quezon City, thanks to the global positioning system (GPS) installed in the device,” reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Using the GPS installed in his stolen tablet, authorities managed to track down and arrest two suspects, Joel David and Raymond Reyes. Investigators said David and Reyes belonged to the notorious Cuya robbery gang, alleged to be behind a string of heists this year.
The reported gang leader, Jonathan Cuya, is now being hunted down.
The victim, sugar farmer Ruben Dizon, reported to police the break-in at his house on Wednesday where at least five suspects ransacked his place. They took cash, jewelry, and several gadgets, including the tablet, which were kept inside a vault.
Police caught up with David and Reyes after the victim traced the location of his tablet using another device. The suspects engaged the police in a gun battle, with Reyes getting shot at the back.
