Veteran journalist Tony Calvento has died yesterday at the age of 63.
His son Sonny said the Calvento patriarch died of multiple organ failure.
“Papa, best known as Tony Calvento to friends and loved ones, has joined Our Creator today, 9 October 2017,” Sonny said in a statement on Facebook.
Calvento’s claim to fame was his popular “Hotline” column in the People’s Journal, according to a Rappler story.
He successfully tranistioned to a career in broadcast media through his ABS-CBN produced TV show “Calvento Files.” The show, which used a crime and investigation format, aired between 1995 to 1998.
He also co-wrote a screenplay under Star Cinema with Ricky Lee called Calvento Files: The Movie.
Calvento’s remains lie at chapel three of The Heritage Park in Taguig City.
Funeral services will take place on Oct. 10 to Oct. 13 starting at 3 p.m. Calvento will be cremated following the service.
