Vendors gang up on Philippine Star reporter

He just wanted to check his e-mails in peace, but some patrons at an Internet café had something else in mind.

Rainier Allan Ronda, a reporter of Philippine Star, “was beaten up, reportedly by a group of vendors, at an Internet shop in a mall in Mandaluyong City Friday,” reports Non Alquitran of Philippine Star.

The reporter suffered wounds and bruises from the attack, which happened after he asked his patrons to tone down their noise.

The request fell on deaf ears and the group let their fists do the talking. Mall security intervened, as well as Eastern Police District director Chief Supt. Miguel Laurel, which prevented the group, led by Janomir Pacasum, to inflict further harm on Ronda.

Ronda is preparing a battery of charges against Pacasum and his group.
