Here’s a novel way that two alleged motorcycle thieves in Valenzuela used to cut out the middle man and minimize risks: Sell the loot on the Internet before stealing the motorcycle.
Francisco Valeroso and Ray Rigor Reyes, arrested in late May, have reportedly admitted to coming up with the scheme two year ago.
Police Senior Superintendent Eric Armamento said in a Philippine Star Report that Valeroso looks for expensive motorcyles in the city, studies its owner’s schedule, and takes pictures of the bike. The two then post ads online offering the motorcycle at very low prices.
Once someone agrees to the sale, they steal the motorcycle then promise the new owner that registration papers are on the way.
If a deal falls through, they reportedly resort to the more traditional way of getting rid of stolen vehicles. They chop it up and sell the parts.
