A Valenzuela City councilor is training his sights on the stuff children eat in school. Councilor Rovin Andrew Feliciano is proposing a ban on junk food in public and private schools in the city, saying the local government ought to promote healthy living among its future citizens. If the measure is passed, all school cafeterias will be serving only food that’s on a list of healthy and nutritious food being drafted by the city’s nutrition council, the local health department and the local school board. Aside from cafeterias, even establishments within the fringes of schools are covered by the healthy food list and owners who continue to serve junk food in their stores could face sanctions.
