Here’s a city that’s serious about making its residents feel safe.
“Now that the Valenzuela City government has constructed a new police station, bought the necessary vehicles, and pledged to shoulder expenses for utilities, training and even additional allowances, Mayor Rex Gatchalian is pleading with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to give them more cops,” reports Carlo Suerte Felipe in Manila Bulletin.
Gatchalian said, “There should be no excuses for our police force not being able to conduct patrols or increase police visibility in the community. Sinagot na lahat ng taxpayers ng city (taxpayers have answered all your needs).”
Indeed, as the report indicated, “the local government has already shouldered the construction of the police station built within the City Hall Compound along MacArthur Highway and expenses for utilities, new vehicles, fuel, bicycles, allowances, and training will all be paid for using Valenzuela taxpayers’ money.”
Now, if only there are enough cops.
The report noted: “With a total of 444 police men assigned in Valenzuela City, Gatchalian made a request for an additional 300 to 400 policemen.”
