Valenzuela City Jail warden fired for septic tank snafu

This time, the shit has hit the fan, so to speak.

“The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology under the Department of Interior and Local Government on Wednesday, Jan 15, sacked jail Valenzuela City Jail warden Silas Laurio Jr. and the jail officer of the day, Insp. Michael Acevedo, after human waste flowed out of the septic tank on Maysan Road last Monday, Jan 13,” reports Rio N. Araja in Manila Standard Today.

The report quoted Chief Supt. Diony Mamaril, BJMP officer-in-charge, who said that Laurio and Acevedo were fired for the lapse “by virtue of command responsibility.”

Mamaril appointed Supt. Amado Concepcion to replace Laurio. The report added that “he ordered Concepcion clean up the tank that has caused a foul smell in the jail’s surroundings.”
