Earlier this week, a piece accusing the US of “creating” Typhoon Yolanda made the rounds on newsfeeds and timelines so much so that a number of reporters could not help but verify the veracity of the report with government meteorologists.
Despite being grossly underpaid, the meteorologists never gave a condescending remark, and generously debunked the so-called microwave pulse theory, which allegedly gave birth to the storm.
Apparently, the US had a machine that shoots microwaves into the sea and generates a storm. We didn’t bother to finish reading the story since it sounds absurd to say the least.
But if you have time to waste, here’s the link. Warning: Time you lose reading this is time you’ll never get back.
So who still fell for that? At least two guys are taking the theory to heart. Someone give the Twitter handle of disaster scientist Mahar Lagmay (@nababaha) so he could talk to these guys!
