It all started with an anonymous Facebook post.
The Sanggunian ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila, the student government of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), announced on their Facebook and Twitter accounts yesterday that they are preparing a sexual harassment case to be filed against a professor, whom they didn’t identify.
This came after an anonymous post appeared on the Facebook account called ADMU Freedom Wall where a netizen alleges that an Ateneo professor famous for being “woke” on Twitter would send creepy messages to students and invite them to his bedroom for consultations. The post appeared on Sept. 30.
The Sanggunian wrote on social media that since the post appeared, they have received complaints from present and former students about the professor. Sexual harassment cases filed against other professors have also resurfaced.
It reads: “Since Sunday, the Sanggunian Commission on Anti-Sexual Misconduct and Violence has been working tirelessly, listening to complaints, counselling, and guiding victims on necessary processes.”
It adds: “We will do our best to have a comprehensive case ready before the end of next week. We call on other victims who are willing to file a case against the professor.”
The statement adds that an investigation into the alleged sexual harassment committed by the professor is ongoing.
The Sanggunian’s president, Hyacenth Bendaña, told Rappler in an interview that the case will be ready before Oct. 12.
ADMU, a Jesuit-run institution, is considered one of the leading schools in the country. Its alumni include artists, athletes, and politicians.
