Typhoon Yolanda death toll rises to 3,976

Despite other reports citing different numbers, the National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council (NDRRMC) recently reiterated that their numbers are the only ones that are considered official. Either way, these statistics are already beyond the count of grief.

As of 6 am, Monday, Nov 18, the NDRRMC death toll from Typhoon Yolanda is at 3,976. Meanwhile, some 1,598 people are missing. Then, 18,175 have been reported as injured.

The NDRRMC bulletin also adds that 2,212,955 families were affected by Yolanda. That translates to 10,306,318 people living in 44 provinces, 574 municipalities, 57 cities from Regions IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI, and XIII (CARAGA Region). *CARAGA is made up of five (5) provinces: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur; six (6) cities: Butuan, Cabadbaran, Bayugan, Surigao, Tandag and Bislig ; sixty-seven (67) municipalities, and 1,308 barangays.
