Two nursing students die in car crash two hours before exam results were released; they passed the exam

On the same day the Philippines’ Regulatory Commission released a list of nursing graduates who passed the board exam, two nursing grads who were waiting for the results died in a car crash in Cebu City.

Alexa Eddy Carvajal and Louis Ferolin died last Tuesday evening, about two hours the names of passers on that list were released.

Transportation officials said their SUV rammed onto a flyover in the neighborhood of Barrio Luz.

According to Cebu Daily News, the two took the exam last month and were two of the 5,875 out of 12,869 who passed.

Ferolin was driving the car, while Caraval was in the passenger’s seat.

An ABS-CBN News report said they were both declared dead upon arrival at the Cebu City Medical Center. The two were graduates of Cebu Doctors Universty.

Carvajal’s father Eddy told ABS-CBN News that he still feels the pain after learning that her second daughter passed the nursing board exams. Her mother Daphnie, meanwhile, said there is no need to point blame, as her daughter and Ferolin have been close friends since college.

“It would not also bring back the life,” she said.

The Ferolin family did not grant requests for interviews from local media.
