Two campaign aides hurt in violence at Erap caucus in Manila

Unidentified assailants hurled bottles and rocks at Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno while he spoke in a caucus after midnight early this morning.

Moreno was unhurt but two of his staff members were wounded: One was hit by a projectile in the head, the other lost consciousness during the ensuing stampede, he told Rappler. Moreno said that the caucus on Maria Clara Street of barangay Sampaloc had to end early and mayoral candidate Joseph Estrada was not able to speak.

Moreno implicated that current Manila mayor Alfredo Lim and a “female drug lord” were behind the attacks.

The Vice Mayor is currently being investigated for an illegal bingo game, charges that he says are trumped up by Lim.
