This is all of us while stuck in Metro Manila’s traffic.
On Thursday, TV host Drew Arellano wanted nothing more than to get home and see his son Primo before bedtime. Manila’s constantly heavy traffic wasn’t doing him any favors so he took matters into his own hands and just ran along the metro’s main highway, EDSA.
The time to beat was 7:30. He was already heading home from a shoot in Quezon province but the vehicle he was riding was still stuck in EDSA’s Ayala area in Makati at 6:30pm. According to his Instagram Story, he and the crew expected the trip to be six hours.
“The old endurance athlete took over and decided to get out of the van and start running,” Arellano wrote in the story.
Arellano, who regularly joins triathlons, got to Kalayaan Ave. in Makati City from the Ayala flyover in just seven minutes — virtually impossible when driving during rush hour.

He was already in Pioneer St. in Mandaluyong City at 7:08pm, an impressive feat on foot, and noted that he had 2km left to go.
In his Instagram Story, he also spared time to show his followers the stuff being sold along EDSA but posted a reminder to himself to keep his eyes on the prize: “Focus, Drew! You have a few mins. left before Primo falls asleep! Hurry up and run!”

At 7:20pm, he made it home, just in time to see his little boy.

When he opened the door, he was greeted by a cheery Primo happy to see his dad home. Arellano squeezed in some bonding time before Primo fell asleep.
“Mission accomplished,” Arellano wrote in the post. “Edsa pollution was sooooooooo worth it. Anything for Primo.”

Facebook user Danet Suguitan saved Arellano’s Instagram Story and posted it on Facebook on Friday, now garnering over 1.2million views.
In awe, netizens left nothing but good words about Arellano. Facebook user Jaison Quiros commented on the post and said Arellano was a “cool dad.”
Another said that he was just the sweetest.
“Drew is so sweet! You just got to love him,” wrote Regine Cano.
Aya Bonalos said these were the perks of being a triathlete.
