Turkey ambassador accused of encroaching on Forbes park property

Who would think that a diplomat would be accused of “squatting”? (They don’t use that word, but it’s pretty much the same thing.)

“Turkey’s ambassador to the Philippines Hatice Pinar Isik is allegedly encroaching on a property inside Forbes Park despite appeals of the Filipino owner to vacate the premises,” reports Manila Standard Today.

The house on No. 82 Cambridge Circle in North Forbes, Makati City, is being rented by the Turkish diplomatic office. However, the current owner of the property, a company called Zee2 Resources has written her a formal notice “to vacate the property and turn over the mansion.” For some reason, Isik has ignored the notice.

The report pointed out that “under diplomatic protocol, Isik cannot be charged with violating civil rights.” Isik had likewise ignored the notice to vacate the property from previous owner Monica Ocampo, who has bought the property from the estate of Beatriz Silverio. Zee2 Resources brought the property from Ocampo in 2011—and now the Isik situation is its problem.

Zee2 Resources has asked help from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for a resolution on the matter. Unfortunately, that hasn’t quite happened yet. The representatives of the company were supposed to meet Isik on September 5, 2013, but she called of the meeting.

According to the report, Zee2 Resources has offered Isik a grace period until December 2013 to find another place. She has rejected that offer. She has also allegedly refused to pay rent for the mansion since sometime in 2011.
