Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised by this.
Almost a week ago, the Supreme Court declared the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and all its other variants “unconstitutional.” The SC also ordered the money returned to the National Treasury. Since then, reports claim that so many congressmen have been absent.
“Marikina Rep. Miro Quimbo admitted lawmakers are saddened by the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision scrapping the pork barrel system, but he said this has nothing to do with the attendance of congressmen in recent sessions,” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent RG Cruz on ABS-CBNNews.com.
Quimbo said that the lawmakers are probably just “worried about how they will face constituents who depend on their pork barrel funds for scholarships and medical assistance.”
The report quoted Quimbo, who said, “Very troubled ang marami sa aming colleagues. Importante na magkaroon ng sistema. Walang kinalaman sa attendance, dahil dati pa namang minsan walang attendance.”
We leave it up to you to react to what he said.
