Tropical Storm ‘Maring’ will likely be in the Philippines until Thursday

Tropical Storm “Maring”, which brought heavy rains that prompted the suspension of classes and work in government offices in Metro Manila has remained almost stationary for the past six hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said.

In its 11:00 am bulletin, Pagasa said Maring is still 575 kilometers east of Itayat, Batanes and is creeping along at just 7 kilometers per hour. It will slowly move away from Batanes and is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning.

Pagasa expects heavy to intense rainfall within the storm’s 300-kilometer diameter.
