This is going to be painful.
On Thu, Jul 21, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade he is “inclined to transfer the Land Transportation Office’s car pound facility to its Central Luzon regional office in Tarlac Province, as a way to instill tighter motorist discipline and bring about improved road use.”
“Part of the rationale for the contemplated move to Tarlac is a more practical reason: The LTO main office compound is almost filled to overflowing with impounded vehicles,” noted Gerard de la Peña on InterAksyon.com.
Then again, Tugade’s announcement reportedly “did not sit well with some motorists, who complained that the move is too radical because not all so-called ‘violators’ are necessarily genuinely guilty of alleged infractions.”
In any case, under Tugade’s proposal, the vehicles to be brought to the Tarlac impoundment facility “will include those apprehended for parking violations, and public utility vehicles operating illegally, or otherwise known as colorum vehicles.”
Tugade said, “Violators of the law are not entitled to convenience. They should be grateful it’s only Tarlac, not Masbate.”
