Traffic ahoy: More people taking Pasig Ferry System, says MMDA

It’s a no brainer. Between being stuck in traffic for two hours and traveling by ferry for only 45 minutes, which one would you choose?

Some 500 people have been choosing to take the Pasig River Ferry system daily, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. Forty-five minutes is how long it takes to reach Manila from Pasig.

The transportation system, which was started in 2011 and revived by MMDA in 2014 after operations were suspended for a few years. There is currently a fleet of 16 boats, and fare ranges from PHP15 to PHP95.

“The agency has long encouraged the public to patronize the Pasig Ferry System and help lessen the load of the heavily congested Edsa, JP Rizal in Makati City and even those roads leading to Intramuros, Manila, since traffic along the Osmeña Highway has started getting heavy with the construction of the Skyway Stage 3,” reports Inquirer.net.

There are currently 12 stations, covering Manila, Makati and Pasig. Operating hours are from Monday to Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
