It’s not easy being green—because sometimes motorists might complain about it.
“The Manila Police District (MPD) announced that starting today, Thursday, Jan 23, some roads in Manila will be closed starting today to give way to Shell’s Eco-Marathon,” reports Aie Balagtas See in The Philippine Star.
According to the MPD, the road closure has two parts.
First, from today, Jan 23, until Jan. 26, Independence Road (also known as Parade Avenue) from South Drive to Katigbak Drive will be closed to traffic from 5am to midnight.
Then, the same road will also be closed from Feb 12 to Feb 14.
Very important: “The MPD said both lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Katigbak Drive to T.M. Kalaw street, will also be closed on these dates.”
The report noted that “the MPD advised that all motorists coming from the pier zone intending to use the boulevard’s southbound lane should turn left on P. Burgos street, right on Maria Orosa, right on T.M. Kalaw then left on Roxas Boulevard.”
Meanwhile, as the report explained, “motorists from the south who intend to use the boulevard’s southbound lane should turn right on T.M. Kalaw, left on Maria Orosa, left on P. Burgos and right on Bonifacio Drive.”
