This makes the traffic situation worse.
“The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has deployed several traffic enforcers in Quezon Bridge in Quiapo, Manila to ensure that no heavy vehicles will ply the bridge following the fire that razed a neighborhood of shanties last April 10,” reports Anna Liza Villas-Alavaren in the Manila Bulletin.
According to the assessment of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the fire affected the integrity of the bridge. As such, heavy vehicles just like buses, truck are not allowed to pass Quezon bridge,” said Recio.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Traffic Engineering Center head Noemi Recio explained that “it may take some time before the Quezon bridge will be opened for heavy vehicles because of the retrofitting of the bridge.”
This is why the public is told to expect traffic congestion in the area.
