Eugene Torre, Asia’s first chess Grandmaster (GM) will be the guest speaker at the opening of the 2013 Marikina Riverpark Active Chess Tournament on May 11.
Torre is also the founding president of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP), and was at one time in the top ten of the world’s chess players. The tournament is open to chess players with a rating of 1950 and below, with a time control of 25 minutes per player, ABS CBN News reported.
