Tinoc, Ifugao vice mayor goes missing

The newly elected vice mayor of Tinoc town in Ifugao province has been missing since Friday last week.

Vice Mayor Fernando Gapuz, 56, traveled on official business to the village of Abatan in the town of Buguias, Ifugao last week.

Tinoc police officer SPO4 Nestor Bulong told Coconuts Manila that Gapuz took a bus from Tinoc and arrived in Buguias early in the morning, according to several people who recognized him.

No one has seen him and he has not gone home since then.

Gapuz had just been released from the hospital shortly before he went missing. SPO4 Bulong said they are still trying to find out his whereabouts.

A superstitious man, he believes there could be something supernatural behind Gapuz’s disappearance.

“Here in Tinoc, we believe that there are cases where a spirit brings a person somewhere,” Bulong said in Filipino. “These missing persons would re-appear after a few days.”

Tinoc police have asked the public to provide any information related to Gapuz. He’s about 5’4″ in height and was wearing a brown leather jacket, green T-shirt, and brown slacks when he disappeared. The public can call Tinoc Police Station at +63 935-110-7168.
