Timeline: La Salle Green Hills student’s aunt admits to staging robbery

You think you have unbearable relatives? Well, here’s one family that has a relative that’s beyond unbearable.

“Annalyn Perez, an aunt of a La Salle Greenhills student who fell prey to a robbery-extortion scheme on Sunday afternoon, December 6, confessed to the police on Monday, December 7, that she had actually hired a man to commit the crime,” reports Jovic Yee in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

For the record, Perez is the cousin of the child’s mother.

Below is a timeline (estimates based on the times cited in various reports) of the made-for-telenovela crime:

Sun, Dec 6 sometime past 1pm
Perez and her 12-year-old nephew, who studies at La Salle Greenhills, were inside a silver Toyota Vios at the LSGH parking lot and about to go home after football practice, when an armed man barged into the vehicle. He pointed a gun at Perez’s nephew, who was in the backseat.

Sun, Dec 6 around 2pm to 3pm
The man got Perez’s cellphone and demanded the number of the boy’s parents. He called the boy’s father and demanded PHP100,000 from him and threatened to harm Perez and the boy if he didn’t get that amount. The boy’s dad said they didn’t have that kind of amount and the suspect eventually agreed to free the victim and Perez for PHP40,000. They agreed on the drop-off locations.

Sun, Dec 6 around 3pm to 4pm
The victim’s father met the suspect at Tiendesitas in Pasig City, where his son was dropped off. The suspect took the cash and made Perez drive off immediately after the boy got out of the vehicle.

Sun, Dec 6 around 4pm to 5pm
The suspect supposedly asked Perez to drive him off to Starmall in Mandaluyong City, where he got out of the car and reportedly rode a motorcycle.

Sun, Dec 6 at around 6:45pm
Perez, her nephew, and the boy’s father went to the police to report their ordeal.

The report noted: “SPO4 Marifer Bala of the Pasig police’s women’s desk said that when she asked the boy’s father why he didn’t contact authorities when he had the chance, he told her that he feared for the safety of his son. While the victim’s family reported the incident to authorities, they insisted that it only be put on record for future reference.”

Mon, Dec 7 at around 3:30pm
As the report indicated: “Perez confessed to the crime while the police were conducting a follow-up investigation on the case because ‘her conscience was bothering her.’ ” She explained that she had asked the suspect, whom she referred to as “Billy,” to commit the crime. Perez disclosed that she and Billy got PHP20,000 each. She said she only did it to get money for a family member who was ill.

The report revealed that Perez “will be charged with robbery in relation to Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Police are now hunting down “Billy.”

Meanwhile, Bro. Victor Franco, LSGH president, issued a statement for the parents assuring them that “the school is implementing all necessary precautions to continually ensure the safety and security of everyone, especially the students, when they are inside the school premises.”
