TikTok video of Marcos and his wife dancing during New Year’s party earns mixed reactions

ICYMI, a TikTok video of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos dancing to Twist and Shout during a New Year’s Eve party made the rounds — and some are not impressed.

@ken28gallardo ANG ABERYA SA NAIA AIPORT AY ISANG NATIONAL ISSUE. WALA MAN LANG ADVISORY OR KOMENTO SA MGA NANGYAYARE . EXCUSE NA NAMAN NILA IS HOLIDAY. BAKIT ANG DOKTOR, NURSES, PULIS, BOMBERO. MAY HOLIDAY BA SILA KAPAG PASKO AT BAGONG TAON? DIBA WALA?! PRESIDENTE PA KAYA?!NAKUHA PA MAG TWIST AND SHOUT! #caap #naia #fiasco #31minions #budol #sdcards #goldenage #neveragain #neverforget ♬ original sound – Michael Gallardo

The original clip, posted by a certain azumiya12, can no longer be accessed on TikTok, but this has not deterred users from reposting the video on their social media accounts.

Users lambasted the president for having the gall to party in what they described as an “economic crisis.”

“That’s how thick-faced Junior is. He keeps partying while all the prices keep going up,” one user said.

“It’s okay. It’s a holiday. Keep dancing. Enjoy. While air traffic control system is in chaos. While inflation is 8 percent. While workers cannot travel to their work. Be the true uncaring unconcerned Marcos that you truly are,” one sarcastically wrote.

Meanwhile, others saw nothing wrong with the president letting loose during the holidays.

“I’m confused, so he shouldn’t celebrate the holidays?” one user said.

“Why won’t you let people having fun be, even if you guys aren’t?” another asked.

“Do doctors, nurses, policemen, and firemen get holidays during Christmas and New Year? What more for the president? He even had the nerve to ‘twist and shout’!” one TikTok user argued.

Yet other users argued that previous presidents, particularly the late Noynoy Aquino, were criticized in the past for far less severe offenses.

“I remember people were going nuts because PNoy had a Playstation. Now they share videos of our president partying on [social media], seemingly on a monthly basis,” one recounted.
