Only those who have serious cash to burn can watch the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight live at the MGM Grand Garden on May 2.

Although the ticket prices have not yet been announced, it’s obvious that they won’t be cheap.

“Tickets to watch the Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-fight live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 2 are expected to be extremely expensive,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report cited ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael, who believes the cheapest tickets may be priced at US$1,000, with the most expensive carrying a US$5,000 price tag. The MGM Grand Garden Arena has a seating capacity of 16,800 people.

The report noted: “The May 2 mega-fight is expected to break the gate record at the MGM Grand, set by Mayweather’s 2013 showdown against Mexican fighter Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, which generated over US$20 million in ticket sales.”

The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is expected to generate a live gate of US$40 million. The “live gate” refers to the total of money that is made in tickets to the actual venue where the fight is taking place. This does not include pay-per-view income.
