When there’s smoke, there are illegal firecrackers.
“Agents of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recently seized thousands of banned firecrackers being sold in Metro Manila during a raid in Tondo, Manila,” reports Alfred P. Dalizon on Journal Online.
NCRPO chief Director Joel D. Pagdilao disclosed, “This is part of our ongoing program to help reduce firecracker and pyrotechnics-related deaths and injuries in the metropolis as ordered by Philippine National Police chief Director General Ricardo Marquez.”
NCRPO Regional Public Intelligence and Operations Unit operatives raided several targets in Sto. Cristo corner Ilaya Sts. and confiscated 37 boxes of piccolo, 6,500 rounds of judas belt piccolo, five reams of pla-pla, 22 reams of 5-star and 19 pieces of Sinturon ni Hudas.”
However, no arrests were made during the operation. The seized firecrackers were brought to the NCRPO headquarters and are scheduled for destruction next year.
