Thief pulls a fast one on jewelry store attendant

An employee of a jewelry store in SM Megamall in Madaluyong City was in tears when she went to the office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Camp Crame  to file a report against a con artist.

The unidentified woman who pretended to buy a diamond jewelry set made off with a diamond ring worth P1 million. Sita Alac, who works at Naomi Jewelry store, reported that the woman arrived shortly before 2 p.m. on May 12 and was interested in buying the “Illusion” diamond set: a diamond-studded ring and a pair of diamond earrings worth PHP2.8 million.

The smooth talking “customer” asked to see several other items. In the end she said, she would purchase the Illusion set and returned the other pieces of jewelry. However, when poor Alac came back to check on the items, she saw that the diamond ring worth PHP1 million was already missing, Inquirer News reported.
