New billboards regulation: Allot space for plants

Outdoor advertisers whose gargantuan billboards line Metro Manila’s highways have agreed to trade regulation. They signed a “magna carta” for billboards with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Thursday. The regulation limits the size of billboards to 216 sq m. Signage should be at least 24m high and not exceed 36m when these are put up along EDSA, C-5 or Commonwealth. The regulation says it is left to local governments to determine the maximum size of billboards in other areas; it also maintained the ban on billboards an LED signs along Roxas and Macapagal Boulevards. The charter also orders advertisers to allot a portion of the signage for plants, which sounds like a idea, but how are we going to water them? Give us your ideas below. MM
