“Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin said his office has received calls about one or more impostors pretending to be him and calling up business establishments in the city to ask for donations to a children’s charity, to be deposited in a private bank account,” reports Anna Liza Villas-Alavaren in the Manila Bulletin.
Binay was quoted as saying, “I would like to make it clear that neither I nor my office has authorized any person or organization to use my name for the purpose of soliciting donations for any charitable event or program.”
The Makati police are now on the case.
