The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced last week that it was allowing drivers who had renewed their driver’s licenses to use their official receipts in the meantime, as the agency faced a shortage of plastic cards to print these IDs.

This has led the people on the internet to get creative in using their receipts as temporary licenses — including one who even printed out the receipts, which includes a printed copy of their IDs, and placed them inside a frame.

Content creator Rose Ting posted a photo of her driver’s license, printed on bond paper, which she kept protected inside a frame.

She used the hashtags #framedpaperlicense and #onlyinthephilippines.

A lot of commenters said they could relate to the photo.

“Same here, it’s even bigger than my wallet,” one wrote, also posting a print-out of his receipt.

“Very shameful, hello LTO! You can switch suppliers if your first one is unable to commit. Does that look like a valid ID? Imagine, it’s so difficult and expensive to get a license and this is all you issue us?” another said.

LTO data shows there are only 147,522 plastic cards for printing the driver’s licenses, which will be used up by the end of April.
