Minimum wage earners in Metro Manila get a salary hike starting Oct 4, according to the National Wages and Productivity Commission. But is the PHP10 increase per day enough for a celebration? Well, it sure can’t get you this PHP50 giniling with hardboiled egg from a Jolly Jeep #67 in Makati

The new minimum wage rate, reports Sun Star Manila, will now effectively be “PHP466 in non-agriculture industry and PHP429 for workers in agriculture, private hospitals with a 100-bed capacity, retail/service with 15 or less workers, and manufacturing with 10 or less workers.”

NRC Wage Order No 18, however, does not apply to household helpers, persons in the personal service of another, and workers of duly registered Barangay Micro Business Enterprises. MM
