Tessy Sy-Coson and Vivian Que Azcona in Forbes magazine power list

Who run the world?

Here in the Philippines, Teressita Sy-Coson and Vivian Que Azcona do.

The two ladies were the only Filipinos included in Forbes magazine’s third annual 50 Power Businesswomen in Asia list, announced in its March 2014 issue.

The 50 women who made the list are selected based on criteria such as company revenue, their position at the company, and their involvement in the running of daily operations, according to the magazine’s press release.

Women from 13 countries are represented on the list, with China and Hong Kong dominating, followed by India, Singapore and Australia. Indonesia, South Korea and Vietnam each have three women in the list, while the Philippines, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan each have two.

Terresita Sy-Coson, 63, is the vice-chairman of SM Investments and chairman of Banco de Oro Universal Bank.

Vivian Que Azcona is president of Mercury Drug, the country’s largest drugstore chain.
