The police are now searching for a man who has been identified as a suspect behind the brutal killing of a 14-year-old whose corpse was found inside a septic tank in Danao City in Cebu.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced today that they are now searching for Jessie Mediquillo, a 34-year-old school security guard who was allegedly the former suitor of the victim, Tesa Marie Ygay.

According to witnesses, Ygay was last seen accompanied by Mediquillo before she disappeared, reported ABS-CBN News. Witnesses also alleged that the teenager would often hang out at the house where Mediquillo lived.

Mediquillo hasn’t reported for work since Saturday but the authorities believe that it’s possible that he hasn’t left Danao.

Ygay’s corpse was discovered on Monday inside a septic tank located near the Cogon Cruz Integrated School, where Mediquillo worked, reported SunStar Cebu. The body was discovered after the police received a call from an unidentified person who complained that a foul odor was coming from the tank.

When the cops went to check the tank, they were shocked to discover Ygay’s lifeless body which had multiple stab wounds. An autopsy found 13 stab wounds on the head and neck, 11 on her arms, two on the left hand, one on her right, and seven on other parts of her body, reported SunStar.

The authorities believe that it was possible that Ygay was already dead before her body was thrown into the tank because some drops of blood were found in other parts of the school, Radyo Inquirer reported.

Ygay’s father Felimon Enoy identified the corpse as his daughter because it has the same haircut as she did. He said that the teenager sought his help after Mediquillo allegedly tried to cut her hair out of jealousy.

After reporting the alleged hair-cutting incident to village officers, Enoy sent his daughter to Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu to stay with their relatives to avoid Mediquillo.

However, Ygay reportedly left Lapu-Lapu City after she received a threatening message from Mediquillo who allegedly said that he would kill her if she did not return to Danao.

Enoy said he searched for his daughter at Mediquillo’s house on Saturday but couldn’t find her there. However, he allegedly found a bloodied knife, a steel pipe, and a rock inside the house.

His daughter’s corpse was then found two days later.

Ygay’s brutal stabbing follows the killing of Christine Silawan, another Cebuano teenager who lived in Lapu-Lapu City. Cebu PNP has arrested two suspects connected with Silawan’s killing.
