A teenager drowned in one of the worst places in Metro Manila to even dip your toe in — Manila Bay — despite being told by friends not to join them for a swim. Manila police fished out the body of Channel Laurito on Wednesday afternoon near Muelle de Binondo, one of the tributaries that spill into Manila Bay. According to the victim’s companions, they were planning to take a swim near Port Area, and Laurito insisted on joining them despite being told not to by friends, who knew that he didn’t know how to swim.
