Facebook is supposed to foster friendships, but in this case it led to a needless death.
“A 16-year-old boy who brutally killed his 11-year-old friend for allegedly hacking his Facebook account was turned to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday, Feb 26,” reports Freddie C. Velez in Tempo.
The suspect reportedly got mad after he thought that his much younger friend “hacked” his Facebook account. The 11-year-old was found dead with 46 knife wounds inside an unfinished house in their Malolos, Bulacan neighborhood late Sunday night, Feb 23.
Police learned that prior to the incident, the two boys were seen together at the suspect’s house. However, the victim’s mother got worried when he didn’t come home at 6pm. She, along with her neighbors, looked for the boy. It was actually one of the neighbors who stumbled upon his body.
The report added that “the victim’s mother called for the imposition of the highest penalty on the suspect as she and other relatives expressed outrage over the death of her son just because of the popular networking site.”
