Cebu teacher brought unlicensed gun to church to be ‘blessed’

A lot of people seem to be unaware that the election period gun ban is now in effect.

Geofre Radoc, 51 — a part-time teacher of Maritime Law, Naval Architecture and Economics at the Cebu Technological University (CTU) in Carmen, Cebu — was arrested on Jan 10 after he brought an unlicensed firearm to the St. Augustine de Hippo church to have it blessed.

Jan 10 marked the start of the election period gun ban.

“Radoc denied owning the 9mm pistol. He said it was given to him by a man whom he didn’t know. He reasoned that it had also been ‘very dark’ when he ran into the man, so he could not describe him,” reports Apple Mae Ta-as in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Radoc was quoted as saying, “The gun was not mine. I was just asked to have the gun blessed.”

The report noted: “Churchgoers became alarmed when they noticed a gun tucked on Radoc’s waist. One of them sought police assistance.”
