TD ‘Auring’ maintains strength, Signal #1 raised in Visayas and Mindanao

Tropical Depression ‘Auring’ has maintained its strength heading to Surigao provinces today, Sun (Jan 8), according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

‘Auring’ has slightly changed its course with maximum winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

As of 2:00 p.m., ‘Auring’ is located at 80 km North Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Tropical cyclone warning signal #1 (TCWS #1) has been raised in the following areas as of 2:00 p.m., Jan 8:

– Bohol
– Siquijor
– Negros Provinces
– Southern Leyte
– Cebu
– Guimaras
– Southern part of Iloilo
– Southern part of Antique
– Agusan del Sur and Norte
– Surigao del Sur and Norte
– Bukidnon
– Siargao Island
– Davao del Norte
– Dinagat Province
– Misamis Oriental and Occidental
– Camiguin
– Northern Davao Oriental
– Compostela Valley
– Northern part of Zamboanga del Norte
– Lanao del Sur and Norte

PAGASA has advised residents of areas with TCWS #1 and over the rest of Eastern and Central Visayas to be alert against possible flash floods and landslides.

‘Auring’ is expected to make landfall in Surigao del Norte between Sun (Jan 8) night and Mon (Jan 9) morning.

Meanwhile, PAGASA has advised fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and of Mindanao.
