This happened in broad daylight, in full view of the victim’s father.
“On Sunday, Jan 12, 63-year-old Salvador Nazareno, who drives for the Lady Ella Trans taxi firm, was arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct his 23-year-old female passenger,” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.
The report revealed that the victim and her father flagged down Nazareno’s taxi (UWE-306) at about 10:30am in Cavite. They asked him to take them to the Evergreen Memorial Park in Barangay Caniogan, Pasig. When they got to the cemetery, the father paid Nazareno and got out of the taxi first. Nazareno then locked the doors of the taxi and sped away with the victim.
Frantic, the father sought the help of the cemetery’s security guard. They ran after Nazareno, who drove around the cemetery for several minutes. For some reason, Nazareno couldn’t find the exit. When Nazareno was finally cornered, the guard subdued him and then turned him over to the police.
Nazareno is now being held at the Pasig City Police detention center. Incidentally, his employer turned out to be a lawyer. However, when he came to the detention center, he refused to represent Nazareno. He told police he was only there to recover the vehicle Nazareno drove.
