A tarsier rescued from a bus terminal in Quezon City has died while in the custody of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau.
According to an Inquirer report, the tarsier was found in baggage at a bus terminal in Project 4 on Tuesday. The owner of the bag, and presumably the tarsier’s smuggler, was not found.
Last month, another tarsier died before PAWB could transfer it to Bohol for rehabilitation and reintegration into the wild. That tarsier was found at Manila Golf and Country Club in Makati.
Just this week, the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources issued a statement urging the public to refrain from keeping wild animals as pets.
