The Makati City Prosecutor’s Office has filed parricide charges against a Taiwanese doctor named Kuo Yuan-Chang, also known as Tony Kuo, for allegedly killing his 47-year-old Filipino wife, Rowena Kuo.
Kuo confessed to killing Rowena because he suspected her of having an affair. After he killed her, he then cut her body into pieces.
“Kuo wrapped his wife’s head and torso in a blanket and hid it in the stockroom on the third floor of their Makati City home,” reports Roy Mabasa in Manila Bulletin.
He threw her other chopped up body parts into the septic tank.
But Kuo’s grisly secret was eventually discovered by his daughter, who found her mother’s head and torso in the stockroom. Kuo had forbidden his kids from entering the stockroom but his daughter had gotten suspicious.
Taiwan’s representative office in the Philippines expressed shock and sadness over the alleged involvement of Kuo in the gruesome act.
In a statement, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila said, “The ruthless homicide is abhorrent to this office and the Taiwanese people and actually seldom happens in Taiwan. On behalf of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines and the people of Taiwan, we regret to state that we have been deeply shocked and saddened by the recent killing of Mrs. Rowena Kuo and the subsequent mutilation of her body.”
They added, “We wish to express our deepest condolences and sympathy to the next of kin of the victim at a time of grief and darkness.”
Investigators have also seized several bloodstained knives and a pair of scissors that they believe Kuo used in the crime.
Meanwhile, another report says that Kuo had a first marriage and that his wife at that time has not been seen since 1999.
